Autoworkers in Colombia, injured at work and then fired by GM, are fighting for justice. Denied their right to a union, they've had to put up with miserable working conditions resulting in injuries to their spinal columns, shoulders, and wrists. Refusing to be treated as disposable workers, they have fought back with a now-580-day encampment at the US Embassy, and 3 hunger strikes.

Jorge Parra, President of ASOTRECOL, brought their fight for fairness to GM’s doorstep here in Detroit. He most recently endured a 73-day hunger strike in a fight to win their jobs back and be fairly compensated, but the battle is far from over.

The workers and their families need our support. Some face intimidation, have been evicted from their homes, and have kids who urgently need medical care. Support has grown in the US and around the world. UAW members and Locals and other groups in SE Michigan have generously donated thousands of dollars, but more is needed. In the words of actor Danny Glover, “with our support, they can win this fight.”
