Dear Friends,
Thank you to all the people who have supported our struggle and who have shown it to us through your actions of help and solidarity. We respectfully wish to inform you that we have made the decision to lift our hunger strike as a show of our commitment to a definitive solution to our demands, and to demonstrate our will to talk and our hope for a prompt, just and final mediation.
Our struggle is a sad example, resulting from desperation and helplessness, having not received justice on behalf of our government or from GM Colombia. We trust that General Motors in its headquarters will do what is right and just, to hear and solve our just demands. We also want to request our friends of the struggle to suspend all actions against GM executives and individuals as another show of our good faith and absolute conviction in the routes of dialogue and conciliation.
We also want to clarify that our physical strike we have maintained for over 415 days in front of the Embassy of the United States in Colombia will continue until we achieve a definitive and just solution, as will all of our actions we started in the U.S. with the goal of raising awareness about our situation and that of workers in Colombia. We consider our struggle to be a clear example of the real situation that workers are living in our country, and we represent without any doubt the sentiment and life of our compatriots that haven’t had these same great opportunities that God has put in our paths to fight for their rights.
Finally, we want to express our deepest gratitude and admiration for all of the people who have lent their support and commitment in the search for rapprochement. We welcome with great hope and pleasure the possible intervention of a group of persons of faith and representatives of various churches in solidarity, because it is definitely better to cure wounds instead of adding further suffering and pain. We also give special gratitude to the UAW and to GM Corporation for giving us the opportunity to be heard.

Queridos compañeros,
Gracias a todas las personas que nos ha apoyado en nuestra lucha y que nos han demostrado a travez de sus actos de apoyo y solidaridad. Queremos respetuosamente informarles que hemos tomado la determinación de levantar nuestra huelga de hambre como muestra de nuestro compromiso a una solución definitiva a nuestras demandas demostrando así nuestra voluntad de dialogo y la esperanza de una pronta , justa y definitiva mediación.
Nuestra lucha es un ejemplo triste, resultado del desespero, y la impotencia de no recibir justicia por parte de nuestro Gobierno y de GM Colombia. Es así como confiamos que General Motors en su casa Matriz haga la correcto y justo para escuchar y solucionar nuestras justas demandas. También queremos solicitarles a nuestros compañeros de lucha suspender todas las acciones en contra de los directivos y personas de GM, como otra muestra mas de nuestra fe y convicción absoluta en los caminos del dialogo y la conciliación.
Como también aclarar que la huelga presencial que hacemos desde hace mas de 415 días frente a la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en Colombia continuara hasta tanto no se logre un compromiso definitivo y justo, así como todas las acciones iniciadas desde E.U. con el objetivo de sensibilizar nuestra situación y la de los trabajadores en Colombia. Por que consideramos que nuestra lucha es un ejemplo claro de la real situación que vivimos los trabajadores en nuestro país y que representamos sin duda alguna el sentimiento y vida de nuestros compatriotas que no han tenido estas oportunidades tan grandes que Dios ha puesto en nuestros caminos para luchar por sus derechos.
Es así finalmente como queremos expresar nuestro mas profundo agradecimiento y admiración por todas las personas que nos han brindado su ayuda y compromiso en la búsqueda de un acercamiento. Vemos con mucha esperanza y agrado la posible intermediación de un grupo de personas fe y representantes de varias Iglesias en solidaridad, por que definitivamente es mejor curar las heridas en vez de agregar mas sufrimiento y dolor. Así mismo un agradecimiento especial a la UAW y a GM Corporation por darnos la oportunidad de ser escuchados.
